Thank you so much I am grateful you are here (and for the priceless Slovak license plate that I have saved:)) and honored that you have chosen to come along!
Yes! I love that, that what drew me to your substack:)) there’s something so powerful about writing from journals. Those pages capture a version of ourselves we might not even remember. My substack also grew out of journals I kept during a very specific chapter of my life & it's unfolding into exploring what happens when that story continues in real time. A toast to our journals and midlife!
The return to the apps after four and a half years gives this next chapter its real gravity. Desire here carries grief, age, authorship, your father’s death, Rilke’s companionship, and the wish to be seen beyond being wanted. Those dollar-store notebooks have become a record of a woman learning which forms of intimacy she is willing to name and pursue. Grateful for the candor with which you let appetite, mourning, and hope stand together without forcing any of them into certainty.
Thank you for this beautiful reflection. Knowing the work was read with this kind of attention and generosity is a gift. I'm so grateful that the complexity of that journey came through.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, your words and your fascinating anecdotes with us. We are the truly lucky ones. ❤️

Looks like we have a lot in common! My memoir and my Substack are based on journals I kept from my mid 20s through my early 40s.
